Capitol Reef at Grand Wash
Capitol Reef at Grand Wash
2021
ACRYLIC ON CANVAS by Robin Hostick
24 x 36 in.
Capitol Reef National Park is best seen on foot among the towering, tilted rimrocks and gorges of the Waterpocket Fold - the massive geologic feature that dominates the park’s incredible landscapes. Grand Wash is a narrow slice through massive sandstone monoliths, a place that puts everything in perspective. I don’t often include human figures in my paintings, but this work is an exception. The sheer scale of these walls, the painterly stripes of desert varnish, and the intense glow of morning light speak to the magic of this place.
Capitol Reef at Grand Wash is painted in acrylic on 1-1/2” gallery profile canvas with hand-painted, neutral-toned edges for a contemporary look with or without a frame. The work arrives ready to hang.
