Midsummer afternoon on the summit of Spencer Butte near Eugene, Oregon. The distant fields, forests and Cascade range invite further exploration. This is a beloved place to Eugeneans, as a destination, an icon of the community, and part of the City’s award-winning parks and open space system. This is where I go to recharge, to get perspective and remind myself of what’s really important. It’s also a fragile ecosystem and much deserving of our love, attention, and careful stewardship.

This painting was featured in the Eugene Mayor’s Art Show in 2004.
