Among the many things I love about mountains is the power to move us emotionally. Watching the sunset on the North Sister is breathtaking and hard to forget. The sense of distance, the rainbow colors of volcanic rock, and the remoteness of the wilderness tend to eclipse anything else that might occupy your mind.
