Maybe the only thing better than an Oregon summer is an Oregon summer with art. If that rings true for you, I have some great news. Over the next few months, I’ll be showing at nine different locations around the state. I know! Crazy. I just counted them up. And I’m hoping to see you at least once.
Before I say more, I’d like to warmly extend a couple of invitations.
First, the 39th Art About Agriculture show will be kicking off this Thursday, May 26th with a reception at Oregon State University’s Giustina Gallery in Corvallis. The reception is from 5:00 to 7:30pm. I’ll be there as well, rubbing elbows with whoever shows up. This is a free event, no reservations required. Click here for more info.
On a side note, I’m excited to share that my painting Crab Season was purchased for the OSU permanent collection. This was a lovely and unexpected honor. That painting and it’s partner work (see previous ArtJornal post) will be traveling to four different locations around Oregon this summer. You can see the full schedule here.
The second invitation goes out to all you art lovers in the Portland area. Next Monday (June 6th) will be an informal opening (“Art Decked Out”) of my June show at the Dee Denton Gallery in Lake Oswego. It’s a free, BYO picnic event with music and talks by a few of the artists, myself included. Click here for details and to reserve your tickets (again, it’s free).
The Dee Denton Gallery show, titled “REemergence,” will be open May 30 through June 26. I painted four new works, one of which is quite large, that highlight beautiful Oregon places which are sources of respite and healing from the pandemic, reflecting the show’s theme. Click here for show details.
Speaking of Lake Oswego, I’ll also be back in town for the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts on June 25th and 26th. At the festival, I’ll be showcasing a variety of other plein air and studio paintings, plus limited edition prints. Details here.
If you’re a fan of art festivals, there’s more to come.
In July I’ll be showing at the Salem Art Fair, which is one of the largest in the west. I’m curious myself; I hear it’s a great event. The show is July 15 - 17. Click here for details.
Then in August I’ll be heading back to the Sunriver Art Fair. I had a great time there last year and met a ton of awesome people. We’ll see what this year brings! August 12 - 14 in the Sunriver Village. Here’s the lowdown.
Finally, I have an invitation to join the 49th Annual Corvallis Fall Festival on September 24 - 25. This is another first-time event for me, and I’m looking forward to it. I hear great things. My aim is to feature our local landscapes. Details here.
There you have it! Nine ways to connect this summer. I’m excited. I can’t wait to see you.
As usual, there’s much more to tell. We just returned from travels in Andalusia and the Netherlands, plus a visit back to Germany. I got to study the works of two renowned artists on their home turf. Any guesses?
More on that in my next post. May your spring be blooming with hope!
